I’ve been playing this game for ages, having beaten it three times and struggled through Honor mode six times, always finding Myrkul to be a tough challenge. I finally managed to take him down today, but in my excitement, I messed up and went for the emperor, leading to a game over when he died. I can’t believe I didn’t remember that from my previous runs! I had a tough time with Myrkul on this playthrough, and I’d love some advice on party compositions or strategies. I was using a hexblade warlock, Karlach, Lae’zel, and Wyll. Looking forward to trying again, but I’m feeling pretty down about it.

Don’t stress too much, I think it comes down to strategy. Make sure to take out that Mindflayer early. Use spells like Darkness to limit Myrkul’s abilities and heal when you can. It helps to have some summons too since they can distract the skeletons!
It sounds like you’ve got a solid setup if you just focus on those tactics a little more carefully. You’ll nail it next time!
Yeah, I totally get being frustrated. If the emperor dies, it leads to an instant game over. Make sure to keep him safe—there are some good strategies out there that can help you. You’ll get him next time!
I realized that right when I got the cinematic! I was just riding the high of beating Myrkul, and didn’t think things through.
I feel you! It can be super intense, especially after a hard boss fight. Just gotta be more careful next time!
For Myrkul, I had an easier time using Shadowheart as a healer but gave her a level in Bard for Heroism. It makes your whole party immune to being frightened, which is super helpful. I had Lae’zel tanking while the rest were on the side. Plus, with the Doom Hammer, Myrkul can’t heal at all!
Thanks for the tip! I’m definitely going to use that Bard level next time. I’ve been missing out on a lot of spells and tactics, so I’ll be more strategic with how I use my characters.
True, but don’t forget that on Honor mode, Myrkul has extra powers, which can really complicate things!
If you want to cheese the Myrkul fight, explosives work wonders! I packed my bags with bombs and dropped a ton of damage on him. You can deal serious damage in one turn that way!
LOL, I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up doing the same because I’ve seen others get crazy results with bombs. I usually prefer a straight fight, but maybe next run I’ll try it!
Totally! Bombs can save the day, especially since the fight is such a run killer.
Yup, I learned that the hard way when the Mindflayer dominated Aylen! I was overloaded with potions and scrolls and still messed up. I’m really upset about that game over.
