I finally jumped into Baldur’s Gate 3 on my PS5 after waiting a whole year to afford it, but so far, I’m really struggling. I’ve put about 12 hours in, and while I love the amazing animation, plot, and character interactions, I’ve never died so much in a game before! I’m no newbie; I play DnD and understand the mechanics. But I find myself facing encounters that feel like I’m not ready for them, like trying to rescue Halsin from the goblin camp, which resulted in a Total Party Kill from one goblin tossing an acid vial. Seriously?! I can’t help but feel like I’m a total noob when I know I can handle challenges, but this game is stressing me out. Should I just drop it to story mode? Will things get better, or am I doomed to spend 300+ hours just dying? I really want to enjoy this game. Has anyone else been through this? How did you cope?

It sounds like you might need to lower the difficulty a bit and also make sure your characters are set up well. Start exploring some side quests to level up before diving into the goblin camp. They shouldn’t be a one-shot TPK if you’re at the right level!
Yeah, you’ve definitely rushed into the goblin camp too early. Focus on leveling up to at least level 4 or 5 before trying that mission, and don’t forget that not all situations need to end in a fight. You can often negotiate too!
Remember, BG3 is all about trying different strategies. If one approach fails, switch things up instead of just charging into battle. Maybe bring a more balanced party next time, like switching to a front-liner who can take hits. Also, scouting ahead can save you a lot of trouble!
Great point! Scouting sounds useful. I might need to do more of that.
I appreciate the tips! I’ve been trying to level up, but I keep finding myself in tough combat situations.
