I’ve been playing Borderlands 3 on my 1TB OLED for about two hours, and while it started off fine, I’ve run into a ton of performance issues that make the game unplayable. Specifically, whenever I open the menu or get into a firefight, the game slows down significantly, resulting in frequent frame rate drops. I’ve tried different versions of Proton, including GE, 9.0.4, experimental, and the standard one. I’ve even dropped the graphics settings to low and switched to DirectX 11, but the issues are still there. I’ve heard of others running the game smoothly on medium-high settings, so I’m really puzzled. Does anyone have any idea what’s going wrong?

It sounds like the game doesn’t really run smoothly on medium to high settings for most. From my experience, running it on low gives you about 60 fps, but you might still see some occasional dips. If you’re looking for consistent performance, try capping the frame rate to around 40 or 45 and see if that helps.
Not sure what your specific fix could be, but I’ve played the game numerous times without running into any issues. It definitely works smoothly for a lot of people!
So I keep hearing about others having no problems—did you use any compatibility tools with it?
