I’ve been dealing with a frustrating microstuttering issue across all my recent builds, impacting every game I play with noticeable 1% lows that make the games look choppy. Here’s a rundown of my setups:
1. 5070 with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D
2. 5080 with a Ryzen 9 9900X
3. 4080 Super with a Ryzen 7 9800X
4. My current rig has an Intel I9 14900K (24 cores), ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard, Asus TUF 5080 16GB VRAM (overclocked), 48GB T-force DDR5 7600 MTs CL 30 RAM, 2TB M.2 SSD Gen 4 (7400 MBs), NZXT Elite 280mm AIO cooler, and a Seasonic Vertex 1200W power supply.
I’m using a 1440p ultrawide monitor, though this stuttering also happens on a 1080p one. I’ve tried quite a bit to solve it, including reinstalling Windows, resetting BIOS, enabling C state, turning XMP on, and running with G-Sync plus V-Sync active. I’ve ensured all drivers and BIOS are up to date.
Any ideas on what more I can do? Could this be a driver or Windows issue?

Also, does the stuttering only occur when gaming? If it runs smoothly while idle or browsing, it’s likely something specific to the graphics settings or drivers. Have you run any tests in safe mode with no overclocking or extra startup apps running? That might help pinpoint the issue.
Have you used DDU to clean out all old GPU drivers? I faced similar stuttering when I upgraded my GPU, and it turned out my old driver files were still causing conflicts. A clean install of the new drivers fixed it for me, so it’s worth a shot!
It sounds like you’ve tried a lot already! Just to clarify, is the stuttering happening in all games, or just specific ones? Also, make sure to check if the CPU is throttling under load. You could run HWInfo64 to monitor temps and performance. If that checks out, try testing without any overclocks or XMP settings enabled. Sometimes it’s just a small setting that throws everything off. Best of luck!
Yeah, definitely look for thermal issues! I ran benchmarks too, and was shocked when I found my GPU was overheating due to bad airflow. Make sure everything’s cool!
So far, it’s happening in every game, but I’ll definitely dive into safe mode and see how it goes!
