I’m having trouble with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on my system—it crashes right at the beginning when it’s supposed to show the mandatory screens about controls and autosave. Has anyone else managed to get this game running, or is it likely an issue specific to my computer? I’ve already opened a bug report on the Proton GitHub page just in case others are facing the same issue. Here are my specs:
– OS: CachyOS
– CPU: R7 7800X3D
– GPU: RX 6800XT

My game loads fine (the overlay was on), but I’m having a lot of audio stutters that are frustrating.
I just finished the prologue without any crashes, and I was on Arch Linux with an R9 5950x and RTX 3090—everything worked great for me. Make sure you’re using the latest drivers!
The game has confirmed compatibility with the Steam Deck, so it should ideally work on Linux as well. Just make sure your setup is up to date!
Actually, it doesn’t have Deck compatibility—check the Steam page to be sure.
Has anyone else noticed some micro-stuttering every few seconds? I’ve tried dropping my settings, but it hasn’t helped much. I’m running Fedora 42 with an RTX 3080.
You might want to enable the Steam overlay; I had the same crashing issue and that fixed it for me after the controls and autosave screens. Give it a shot!
Thanks, that did the trick! I can get past it and start a game now.
Good call! Just remember to report your performance on ProtonDB to help others out.
