I’ve been thinking about the new ping sound when the ball hits the crossbar in Rocket League. What goes through your mind when you hear that sound? Do you expect it to go in? Or do you worry that it’ll bounce back or drop down? My concern is that players, especially those who struggle mentally, might give up entirely just because they hear that ping. Is this concern justified or am I just overthinking it?

From what I can see, teammates will likely rush in to steal the goal whenever they hear the ping, which can lead to chaos. It might be beneficial in some scenarios, but also problematic if we need to defend instead!
I read the feature might only ping if the ball isn’t going to go in after hitting the bar. If that’s the case, it could actually shift gameplay since it’d signal players to keep pushing rather than expecting a goal. This could cut down on that awkward hesitation when the ball rebounds off the bar.
But isn’t that ping going to feel delayed? I wonder if they can really calculate all of that in real-time without slowing the game down.
Honestly, I don’t think the ping will change much in gameplay. Players usually have a good sense of when the ball will hit the bar. It could be a fun addition, though—especially nostalgic for those who love the Throwback Stadium feature!
True! If it lets players know it won’t go in, that can really change how quickly they react. Definitely interesting to think about!
