I’m curious if anyone else here experiences motion sickness while playing Final Fantasy games, particularly Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I’ve noticed that I need to take frequent breaks because the game seems to trigger my motion sickness more than others. I’ve heard some people say that highly immersive games can cause this issue—does anyone else relate to this?

I’ve never had issues with motion sickness until recently. I’ve played tons of games, but there’s this one turn-based RPG that got me feeling nauseous. It’s strange how some games affect us differently. Good luck finding settings that work for you!
Motion sickness can definitely be a problem in games, especially if they use over-the-shoulder or first-person views. A lot of us have found that turning off motion blur is a game-changer. Additionally, consider tweaking some camera settings: disable head bob and screen shake, reduce camera speed, and try increasing your field of view if you can. Keeping a non-moving reference in sight can help too. Sometimes, you might just need to take it easy and play in short sessions to get through the game. Hope some of these tips help you enjoy Rebirth!
Thanks so much! I’m going to try all of these, I love Rebirth so I would love to get through it!
Tweaking settings can make a huge difference! I’ve had a tough time with motion sickness due to motion blur; I always turn that off before I start a game. Final Fantasy XVI had issues with motion blur initially, but once they added an option to disable it, I was able to play for longer sessions without feeling sick. It’s worth adjusting those settings!
Thank you for the advice!
I’ve always played a lot and never had a motion sickness issue until I hit my 40s! Maybe it just comes with age. You’re definitely not alone in this experience, though!
Yeah I’m 33 and I don’t remember this ever being an issue before!
Yeah, I notice motion sickness more in games with low FPS, especially when I turn quickly. I always play in performance mode on my console to mitigate that. It’s unfortunate that this happens, but tweaking the settings can really help!
Honestly, I’ve had to stop playing a lot of FPS and some over-the-shoulder games because they make me feel sick. It’s been an issue since I was younger, but I feel it more now that I’m older. If you’re sensitive to motion, be careful—this might end up being one of those games that could give you trouble. Not to mention, I’ve even felt queasy while playing a Rubik’s cube, so it’s just how my brain processes things sometimes!
This is a good summary of all the stuff I try, too!
