I’m interested in diving to sea forts to gain more emissary reputation in Sea of Thieves. However, I’ve heard that diving might reduce the chances of the mega stash spawning after completing the fort. Can anyone confirm if diving to a sea fort impacts whether the mega stash appears? Also, is this true for all forts or just specific ones like skeleton forts or the Fort of the Damned? I’d appreciate any insights or personal experiences on whether diving is worth it or if it risks losing out on loot.

Just a heads up: when people say ‘sea forts,’ they usually mean skeleton forts. Sea forts is a different thing altogether, so be careful with the terminology when you’re chatting or searching for advice.
If there’s a skeleton fort active on your server, how can you even tell if someone else already dived to it? This makes it super tricky to know if diving is actually ruining your chance or if it’s just the way the spawns work.
From what I’ve seen, mega stash spawns are definitely less likely if you dive to the fort, but it’s not impossible to get it. So technically you can still get the loot after diving, it’s just that the odds are lower, which might not be worth the risk if you’re mainly after that stash.
It’s definitely way less common to get a mega stash when you go diving, so if you want to maximize your loot, it might be best to avoid diving altogether.
Yes, you can get the mega stash by diving to skeleton forts, but NOT at the Fort of the Damned. Personally, I tried diving for a couple hours and only surfaced once, so it feels like a lot of effort with minimal reward. In my opinion, waiting for the fort event normally is probably the better way to go if you’re after the mega stash consistently.
Thanks! I’ll try to limit my dives this week and see if it helps with loot spawn rates.
