I’ve been a fan of Final Fantasy games since the first one dropped on the NES in the late 80s. One feature I really liked in Final Fantasy II (or IV if you’re in Japan) was the ability to customize the message box colors. However, I noticed this option is strangely absent in the Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy IV. Is anyone else feeling the loss of this feature? I’m guessing the same goes for Final Fantasy VI too.

I get the feeling that since they had to make the engine work for all six games, they probably had to cut some features, like the message box customization. It seems like that wasn’t a priority for them, especially since the blue menu color is seen as pretty iconic for the series.
Totally agree! I loved customizing the vibes in the original SNES version. It really added to the experience for each save file. Too bad they left that out this time.
For sure, even though it may seem minor, I did miss the ability to personalize the menu UI in both IV and VI. Just makes the experience a little less unique.
I used to enjoy customizing the menu colors too, especially in the PlayStation versions. It was a fun way to set the mood for the game. I’d always switch it up to match what I felt while playing!
