I was recently reading about the latest RPG from the studio behind Ori and the Blind Forest, which got me thinking about how Microsoft messed up the Xbox One launch. It seems like this is the generation where many gamers got really locked into their console because of digital downloads. I currently game on PC, but my last console was the Xbox One, and I’ve lost access to all my games from that system. It didn’t bother me too much, but I wonder if others feel trapped by their gaming libraries. What do you think?

Since moving to PC as my main platform years ago, I’ve sold off most of my physical collection. I still grab exclusives on PS and Switch, but honestly, with all the perks of PC gaming, I can’t see myself going back to consoles full-time.
I’ve got digital libraries on all my consoles, so I kind of feel locked into all of them! There’s no turning back when you’ve built a library.
I totally feel you! I’ve invested so much in my PlayStation trophies that I’m pretty set with my PS. Can’t even think about switching platforms at this point!
Not at all! I’m mostly a console gamer with a PS as my main, but I’ve got a Switch for those exclusive titles. If I had to switch to PC or Xbox, I probably wouldn’t mind too much since I enjoy gaming across different platforms.
Honestly, if you’re tight on cash and can’t afford to jump ship, then you start feeling locked in. But if money’s not a problem, you can easily switch and enjoy new experiences.
True! Plus, friends can make it hard to switch if they’re sticking to one platform.
