I left my new Xbox Series S downloading a 70GB game overnight, and when I checked in the morning, it only downloaded about 3GB despite having decent internet speed. Is this a problem with my console, or does it have to do with the power settings? Thanks for your insights!

You should definitely use Sleep mode for downloading games. While some features like updates can happen in Energy Saving mode, downloading large games will require the console to stay active. It sounds like you encountered a common issue, so don’t worry, your Xbox isn’t broken!
When your Xbox is in Energy Saving mode, it actually turns off completely, which means downloads will stop until you power it back up. In contrast, Sleep mode keeps the system on a low power state, allowing downloads to continue. So if you want faster downloads overnight, Sleep mode is definitely the way to go!
