I’ve been trying to relive the nostalgia of playing Wind Waker on the Switch 2 online, but I’m really struggling with the controls. Back in the GameCube days, I had to just deal with the camera set up, but now that I can’t seem to change the camera directions, it’s super frustrating! I usually play with inverted controls, and I’m just not syncing up with how the game is set. I tried the remap control feature, but it only seemed to make things worse. I’ve been searching online to see if the Wii U version made any improvements on this front, but I can’t find anyone talking about it. If anyone has experience with the Wii U HD version, could you let me know if they fixed these control issues? I’m hesitant to spend the money if the camera controls are the same!

You can change the camera directions in the online settings on the Switch 2, so it may not be the game itself that’s the issue—it could just be how you set it up!
The HD version definitely addressed those control issues! If you have a decent PC, you might also want to look into playing the HD version that way. It runs really smooth and can offer a great experience!
Sweet, I’m thinking of picking it up now. Thanks for the recommendation!
I’ve been playing the Wii U version and while it’s similar to the GameCube one, it feels better just due to the updated controls on the gamepad. You might want to try inverting the camera controls on the Switch 2, though it might just feel a bit different!
Appreciate the insight! I’ll consider that; thanks!
I recently started on the GameCube version on Switch 2, but honestly, it doesn’t hold a candle to my memories of the Wii U HD version. The graphics and controls on the Wii U are way nicer! If you can play the HD version, I highly recommend it. If that’s not an option, consider using the remapping feature like others mentioned to get a feel you’re used to.
Yeah, I heard it’s kinda pricey now. A local store near me has it for about $60!
The Wii U version actually inverted the camera and aiming controls, meaning you can aim with the right stick and even use gyro aiming for more precision. Plus, it includes the Swift Sail, which is a huge quality of life improvement—you don’t have to change the wind direction constantly. If you can grab the Wii U version, it might make your gameplay a lot more enjoyable!
Those updates make a significant difference! I really wish they brought the HD version to the Switch.
For me, that’s exactly why I went back to the Wii U instead of continuing on the Switch 2. The HD version really enhanced my experience!
You can actually invert the camera using the Switch 2 settings! Just be aware that it will invert the Wind Waker controls too. If you have a pro controller, you might set the controls to your liking more easily. It could make it better for you, but there might be a little bit of a learning curve as the controls will be flipped around.
If you play around with it, you might find a setup that works better! Just keep experimenting.
Yeah, I had to play with the settings multiple times before I felt comfortable.
Maybe that’s the case; I’ll have to double-check my settings. Thanks for the tip!
