Hey, I’m new to Terraria and was wondering about how players use beds throughout the game. Specifically, do beds actually help with things like dealing with monsters or visibility issues in the mid to late game, or do players just not worry about those problems? I’d love to know if beds are a common tool to set spawn points or to pass time, or if they’re mostly ignored as you progress.

I usually use beds mainly to set spawn locations and fast-forward time at night. Sleeping speeds up the night, which helps me skip the dark hours quickly. It’s especially useful if you don’t want to hang around fighting or mining all night. Also, sleeping gives you a bit of health regeneration, so it’s like a mini heal too.
Beds are pretty handy for setting your spawn point somewhere other than the default world spawn. That way, when you die, you won’t have to trek all the way back from the start every time. Plus, you can sleep in them to speed up the time — like fast-forwarding through the night. Just a heads up, though, you can only do this if there’s no event going on, and in multiplayer, everyone has to sleep at once for the time to speed up.
Honestly, I tend to just go mining during the night instead of sleeping. During the day, I explore the surface looking for more caves and resources to prepare for the next night. Beds aren’t necessary for me to deal with monsters or visibility issues; I just try to keep busy and avoid waiting around.
Oh nice, didn’t realize sleeping actually helped with regeneration too! That’s pretty useful.
