I can’t help but wonder if the start of the RE9 trailer gave off more of a vibe like an animated Resident Evil movie rather than a game. That FBI headquarters scene really felt cinematic — the style, pacing, and even the dialogue. If that part is actually going to be in the game, it seems like it would usually just be a brief intro narrated in a few lines, not a whole 2-minute cutscene. What do you all think? Will that scene make it into the final game, or was it just crafted for the trailer to set some mood and explain the basic premise?

When I watched it initially, my first thought was that they were announcing a new CGI movie. It wasn’t until I saw the 9 pop up that I realized it was actually for the new game. Crazy, right?
Yeah, it totally feels cinematic! I believe RE9 is going to take the series into a more mature and serious direction, kind of building on what we saw in RE7 and RE8. It’s high time for a deeper narrative in this franchise!
Agreed! The tone did feel serious, but the scenario sometimes felt a bit silly. I hope they strike a better balance this time!
I had no clue about the context when I first saw the trailer, so I definitely thought it was for a new CGI movie too! Looks like others had the same reaction, haha!
I think Grace’s scenes will feel more like a CGI film than gameplay. I’d be surprised if there’s much actual gameplay involved in her part.
Well, it is still a game, so I’d expect some playable moments with Grace. She’s an FBI analyst, so she should be able to shoot a gun, even if she’s not a combat pro. I can see the start being like classic RE: limited ammo and basic enemies, echoing that creepy vibe from RE7!
Totally! That eerie stalking vibe from the opening of RE7 is exactly what I feel from the trailer. I really hope they pull that off!
I honestly think it might be the very first cutscene once you boot up the game. That intense minute of silence with him walking through the office and her checking out the computer feels like the perfect time for the opening credits to roll. Or maybe they’ll kick things off with her waking up trapped, leading into an escape sequence followed by the title card! That would be epic!
I get what you’re saying! RE7 was such a great return to that grounded horror vibe, but RE8 felt a bit over the top with all the vampires and lycans. However, Requiem does look promising, and I’m really hoping it offers a longer experience, similar to RE4R!
