Hey everyone, I recently got back into gaming and after years of not playing, I realized my current setup isn’t cutting it anymore. My build is from 2020 with an MSI Z590 PRO WIFI motherboard, an Intel i7-11700k (overclocked to 4.5GHz), and an ASUS RTX 2060 ROG STRIX with 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz. I’ve noticed that new games are much more demanding, and while my CPU is fine, the GPU is lagging behind. With just $300 to spend, I impulsively bought an RTX 5060. However, I’ve seen a lot of negative feedback about this card, especially when comparing it to the RTX 5060 Ti, which is slightly out of my budget. I also learned that the 5060 has a PCIe 5.0 x8 connection, but my motherboard supports x16. I’m concerned I might have made a bad choice, and I’m wondering if I’ll see a significant improvement moving from the RTX 2060 to the 5060. Will I be able to push my FPS into the 100+ range in some games? I usually struggle to get above 80fps even on low to medium settings. Any insights would be appreciated!

You should be fine with the PCIe x8. It will still fit in your x16 slot, just keep it secure with screws. The performance leap from the RTX 2060 to the RTX 5060 is pretty significant, so you can definitely expect a boost in FPS, possibly around 20-30 more depending on the game. Just lower the settings a bit if you need higher FPS!
Honestly, don’t stress too much about the negative reviews. Every card has its strengths and weaknesses. The RTX 5060 will give you a decent bump in performance. Just get ready for some tweaking in settings, and you might just cross that 100 FPS mark!
Thanks for the reassurance! I guess I’ll have to experiment with settings and find that sweet spot.
Glad to hear that! Just keep an eye on benchmarks specific to the games you play. You might be pleasantly surprised with the 5060!
