I just finished The Final Shape and honestly felt a bit let down, similar to when I wrapped up Destiny 1. I was shocked at how it ended, thinking we were going for a massive showdown with the Witness, but instead it just felt like we barely scratched the surface. I didn’t play Destiny when The Final Shape initially launched and just got back into the game a couple of months ago. I had no idea what was happening in the lore, I was spoiler-free, and I expected the main campaign to wrap things up. Can someone explain the timeline after you finish the campaign? Just when I thought we beat the Witness, it turns out there’s more to the story with extra missions. Am I the only one who expected more from that final mission?

No worries, you’re not alone! A lot of us were caught off guard by the ending. The real final mission, “Excision,” is actually a special group mission where you take down the Witness. You haven’t completed the campaign if you haven’t done that yet!
Back at launch, we were told that the main mission would lead straight into the raid, which adds another layer to the story. So don’t feel bad for missing out! The full experience isn’t complete until you do the raid or at least Excision.
True! I knew there was more to it, but it’s easy to miss if you weren’t following the game news back then.
Just to clarify, the campaign doesn’t really end there. You need to run Excision for the true climactic finish. If you’re skipping it, you’re missing the real emotional payoff! I’d definitely recommend getting that mission done.
Exactly! When the cutscene rolled after Iconoclasm, I was just like “that’s it?” But once I reached Excision, it definitely felt like a more fitting conclusion.
