I’m developing a tabletop RPG where divine spellcasters need to engage in unique acts of worship to recharge their magical abilities. For instance, they earn Devotion by spending time honoring their deity. So far, I’ve got some ideas: basic prayers, ceremonial offerings with specific requirements based on the deity, hymns performed for added devotion, and participating in religious holidays for bonus devotion. I’m looking for more innovative forms of worship that could fit into this system!

These ideas sound great! You might include fasting or ritual sacrifice, similar to the practices seen with the Oracle of Delphi or the secretive cults of Dionysus. These could add depth and more seriousness to devotion with some cool mechanics tied to them.
Fasting could be a neat addition! Maybe it could give buffs or debuffs to characters depending on whether they’ve eaten recently. I also love the thought of a worship method called “Fellowship” where one earns devotion through cooking and sharing meals with others.
