I love chasing achievements and often watch YouTubers going for platinum trophies on PlayStation. It made me realize that Xbox achievements could use some quality of life improvements. For example, on PlayStation, achievements are neatly categorized by base game and each DLC, making it easier to focus on just the base game or specific DLCs. Xbox just lumps everything together, which can be confusing if you only want to 1000 the main game and not the extra content. It’s not a huge deal but would be a nice feature to add. What do you all think about this idea?

This idea gets brought up all the time, but unfortunately Microsoft doesn’t seem super interested in improving achievements these days. There were rumors about a big achievement overhaul years ago but nothing ever happened. I think they just don’t see it as a priority anymore.
Yeah, without devs pushing new achievements or Microsoft refreshing the system, it feels like achievements are kinda stuck in limbo.
Totally agree! The way Xbox just mixes base game and DLC achievements can be messy. I’ve been using TrueAchievements a lot, and it actually does a great job categorizing achievements and even points out missables ahead of time, which helps a ton if you’re trying to platinum or 1000 a game.
Yeah, TrueAchievements has been my go-to too. It’s nice to know what you can still get before it’s too late.
Honestly, with how little they’re innovating achievements nowadays, some people might prefer if Microsoft just scrapped them. They don’t seem to have any plans to improve or evolve the system, so keeping it around feels kinda pointless.
I wish achievements actually rewarded you with in-game stuff, like skins, weapons, or profile badges. Imagine if finishing Halo on Legendary gave you a cool weapon skin to use in the next game, kinda like what they did with the watchhog skin in Halo Infinite. That kind of continuity would make achievements feel meaningful and encourage playing older games too. Microsoft had some ideas back in the 360 days, but it really dropped off after that.
Some indie games like Vampire Survivors and Risk of Rain do this too, unlocking in-game items through achievements. It’s rare but really cool when they do.
Totally! I miss when achievements gave more than just bragging rights — like in Minecraft or the Halo ODST helmet. It’d be great if Microsoft didn’t just retire all those cool concepts.
I’d also love to see way more stats and detailed leaderboards tied into achievements. The current stats page on Xbox feels inconsistent and could use an overhaul. Like, it’d be awesome if there was a real reason to compete weekly against friends for achievement scores — right now there isn’t much incentive.
Exactly! Leaderboards could really motivate people but they feel underdeveloped and almost pointless as they are now.
It’s a shame since achievements help keep people engaged, but I guess they have other focus areas.
