There was a lot of excitement when the Tera leak hinted at Gen 10 potentially being set in Greece. However, some fans are now suggesting that might not be the case. We know it’s going to be an archipelago with diverse islands, which could mean many places beyond Greece are in play. The letters K and N might just be placeholders, possibly standing for Kaze and Nami, which mean Wind and Waves in Japanese. While Gaia, the Greek goddess, could hint at a Greek influence, many Pokémon names don’t have a straightforward connection. Fans are eager for a break from European settings, and other archipelagos like the Philippines and Indonesia could also be contenders for the new region!

Honestly, I wasn’t aware that many people thought it was Greece before. Seems like there’s more evidence leaning towards Italy than Greece at this point. Plus, the way they described the new region suggests they’re aiming for something entirely different, which could be exciting!
It’s totally possible that it could be Italy, but let’s not forget that Pokémon surprises us all the time! Just because there are strong clues doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed. And, by the way, the Italian Peninsula wasn’t always an archipelago, so the landscape could really differ from what we expect.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I think Italy is the way forward! Look at it this way: all the hints from leaks suggest they’re aiming for that aesthetic, and the whole Wind and Waves thing ties in beautifully with Italian mythology. Plus, if they’re sticking with what’s iconic, Italy’s architecture is stunning and would look amazing in 3D!
I really like the idea of an archipelago! It’s fresh and gives them room to be creative with different environments. Plus, there’s so much potential for new Pokémon based on unique ecosystems. Who’s with me?
