Hey fellow gamers! I’m finally ready to jump back into Azeroth after a three-year break, and I’m looking to buy a new budget PC. I’m planning to equip it with an RTX 3050 8GB GPU, but I’m stuck deciding whether to go for the Ryzen 5 5500 or the Ryzen 5 5600 CPU. What’s your recommendation? Thanks a ton! :)

I’d go with the 5600. It has 32 MB of L3 cache, which is super important for WoW. Just make sure your setup includes an NVMe SSD and 32 GB of RAM to stay future-proof. Honestly, the GPU won’t impact WoW much unless you’re gaming on it for other titles, so the RTX 3050 should be plenty.
Most modern CPUs and GPUs should handle WoW just fine. Everyone experiences similar performance issues to an extent, so even high-end Ryzen options can struggle in raids when settings are maxed. Personally, I’m rocking an older 8700K and 2070 Super at 1440p, and while I get around 30-40 FPS in busy areas, it can feel pretty clunky. Focus more on your CPU, as WoW really leans on that rather than the GPU. Just be mindful of price versus performance; it’s often better to save money for upgrades like a better SSD or faster RAM instead of over-investing in minimal gains.
Keep in mind that WoW tends to be more CPU-intensive, especially if you’re diving into raids or battlegrounds with a ton of players. If your budget allows, get the best CPU possible—you’ll thank yourself during those intense moments.
Honestly, both CPUs should work just fine for WoW. You might see a slight difference in FPS (maybe 1-2 FPS), but considering WoW’s optimization issues, either option will give you a great experience. Just enjoy playing!
Thanks for the advice! If the performance difference is so slight, I might go for the Ryzen 5500 to save a bit of cash.
Here’s what I’m planning to buy: AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM, Nvidia RTX 3050 8GB, 512GB M.2 NVMe. I’m a bit over my budget but really want to go with the 5600. Also, Windows 11 is included, and my total is about 639.90€.
