I’m looking for games that are simple enough to be considered casual but still require some brain power and puzzle-solving. Something along the lines of sudoku — easy to jump into and not overwhelming, but mentally stimulating. For example, I wouldn’t count chess because although it needs a lot of thinking, it feels too complex and not really casual. Any cool game suggestions that hit that sweet spot?

Another fun option is Slay the Spire. It combines card game strategy with roguelike elements. It’s challenging enough to keep your brain engaged but you can play at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed.
If you’re into puzzle games that are casual but still get your brain going, Nonograms (also called Picross) are awesome. They’re straightforward logic puzzles where you fill in squares on a grid based on number clues. You can find versions with added storylines like Piczle Cross Adventure or Murder by Numbers if you want something with a bit more flavor.
If you want a casual game that’s more action-focused but still easy-going, Vampire Survivors is great. You just roam around and clear waves of enemies, so it’s simple but surprisingly addictive. Plus, not much pressure, just a laid-back way to keep your brain tuned a little.
Try Plants vs Zombies if you want something chill but strategically satisfying. It’s easy to learn and not too intense, but you still have to plan your defenses thoughtfully to survive the waves. Plus, it’s fun!
I’d recommend something like Minesweeper. Once you pick up on the common patterns, it’s pretty addictive and definitely casual to play, but still keeps you thinking logically each round.
