Does anyone know what the deal is with this quest. Is it a random roll as to whether he will find the ripened flint? Seems like he is just playing a game to get free flint and won’t find anyway. I do not have enough to give him 100 but even then, he said he may not find it even if I did give him 100 pieces. Did anyone do it and find out what the result is?

It is possible to get the 1000 rupees for this. You can save scum if you need to. its best to give him 50 since it is possible to get it from this. You might get lucky and he finds the ripened flint inside one of these and you will get 1000 rupees from it. If not, just load up the game save you made before giving it to him and try again. Keep doing it until he gives you the 1000 rupees. It is definitely possible to get the rupees. He isnt some cowboy trying to get infinite free flint from you in exchange for something that doesn’t exist.
I gave him 50 to just have a try, and he really gave me1000 rupees in return! I was googling to find out whether this is a guaranteed reward and found out this post. i would guess you can just save and load until he finds the ripened flint. Good luck!
