I’ve been trying to play Baldur’s Gate 3 but the game won’t load past the main menu. Every time I start it up, it keeps showing a “shader pre-caching update” loading message and never moves forward. I’ve tried upgrading my computer’s memory, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and verifying the game files, but nothing solves the problem. This issue started after the latest patch 8 update. Has anyone else experienced this or found a way to fix it?

If switching to Vulkan and turning off shader preloading didn’t help, you might want to try clearing your shader cache manually or doing a full verify of game files through Steam again. Sometimes the cache gets corrupted after updates, especially with patch 8 causing issues for others too. Unfortunately, it seems like a bug introduced in the latest patch rather than a hardware problem.
Try switching the graphics mode to Vulkan in the game launcher instead of DirectX. You can find this option near the bottom next to the DX choice. Also, go into your Steam settings under Downloads and disable the “Preload shaders” option. These steps helped some people get past the shader loading screen.
Tried that already but it didn’t help. Still stuck on the same loading screen. Any other suggestions?
