I’ve noticed a trend at my local gym where my Pokémon keep getting knocked out by the same few players over and over. Some accounts seem to have the same name, like ‘banana’ and ‘banana2’. I’m wondering, is it against the rules to use more than one account? If it is, how do I go about reporting it? It’s frustrating because I’m missing out on coins since my Pokémon can’t hold the gym for long due to this issue.

Technically, it’s not allowed to have more than one account, and players here might judge you if you do. But honestly, a lot of gym farmers use multiple accounts and Niantic doesn’t seem to take action, even with obvious names like Dave001 and Dave002. Some people even create extra accounts just to complete trading tasks, so the risk of getting banned isn’t too high for most.
Passing the rules, yeah it’s not allowed. But let’s be real, you won’t get thrown in jail for it! The worst that can happen is getting accounts banned if Niantic chooses to act on it.
Most people here are against multiple accounts due to fairness, but in real life, not many gamers care about it unless it starts causing major issues for others.
I don’t see why it shouldn’t be allowed. Whether you’re using one device or multiple, more players just means more fun! If you’re facing these repeat players, just be persistent. You might have to kick them out of the gym a few times. Or maybe reach out to your local Pokémon community to strike a deal with them.
Umm, Niantic actually does care about that. They want only one person per account according to their Terms of Service, though I totally get why people might not agree.
Demonise, you say?
