I just found myself permanently banned from my main account, which I’ve played since around 2018, due to abusive text chat. I didn’t get any logs or examples of what I allegedly said, and I honestly can’t remember anything too extreme. Maybe I occasionally typed things like ‘X diff’ or ‘ez’, but I thought those were pretty tame. I immediately filed a ticket, but I’m unsure if permanent bans can even be appealed. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and managed to recover their account? This feels like such a huge blow given my long-time investment in the game. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, it sounds like you’re not alone in this. From what I’ve heard, they usually send back a generic response like, ‘Tough luck.’ They don’t really review appeals for permanent bans. Your best bet might be just starting fresh with a new account, but if you go that route, it might be wise to steer clear of spending any money on it since they can be pretty strict about bans for minor infractions.
That’s tough, man. I don’t even know if I’d bother starting over at this point. It feels like the game has really shifted since Overwatch 2 came out. I can’t even mess around or talk a bit of trash in a game I paid for without worrying about getting slapped with a ban. Crazy!
