I’m curious if the tweaks that CD Projekt Red made to make Cyberpunk 2077 run smoothly on the Nintendo Switch will also be applied to the Steam Deck. Given that Phantom Liberty is playable on the Switch, I can’t help but feel it’s a missed opportunity if it doesn’t work on the Steam Deck, especially considering they have similar hardware capabilities. What do you all think?

It’s tough to say right now. The fact that Nintendo went with an Nvidia chipset for the Switch 2 is interesting since it allows for features like DLSS and RTX, which could really enhance performance. I’m eager to see how everything shakes out, but I’ll definitely be jumping on the Switch version as soon as it drops!
While the Switch 2 has DLSS support, the Steam Deck doesn’t. So even if the game is optimized for the Switch, it might not translate well to the Steam Deck since it operates differently.
True, but I’ve heard that using DLSS on the Switch can really impact performance, so it might not be as straightforward as it seems.
Honestly, calling Phantom Liberty unplayable on the Steam Deck is kinda silly. There’s just one spot where it really drops frames, but aside from that, it runs pretty well!
Dude, Phantom Liberty does work on the Steam Deck! Sure, you might see some minor hitches every now and then, especially when you visit new areas, but if you configure it right, it often runs stably at around 40 FPS, which isn’t too shabby for a handheld. The default settings could definitely use some tweaking, though!
From what I’ve gathered, it doesn’t seem like Cyberpunk runs stellar on the Switch 2 either, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for CD Projekt Red to invest heavily in improving the existing versions anytime soon.
Yeah, I suspect we’ll see a lot of advances in performance and graphics capabilities in the future thanks to DLSS.
