I’m really bummed out about the nerf that Threaded Spectre received. I know it was adjusted mainly for PVP reasons, but honestly, it has thrown a wrench into some of the coolest PVE builds I had. I used to have a blast with Strand and Bombardiers, creating those hilarious explosions that unleashed threadlings every time I dodged. I was just about to have some fun with this setup on Prismatic, especially with Gunpowder Gamble adding a twist. But now, this nerf has messed everything up—it kinda feels like I’m punished for trying to play the game my way. Why couldn’t Bungie have kept this change limited to Crucible? Other nerfs have worked that way before! Now, without Balance of Power, my abilities cause way too much AOE damage and just wipe out my clone before it even gets a chance to shine. I’m not asking for a full reversal on the nerf, but it’d be super nice to get back some of that synergy without forcing me to rely on one specific aspect.

I hadn’t realized the nerf hit this hard! I avoided using my clone build because I was dreading trying it again. It seems like they made a strong play in Crucible and didn’t think through the PVE impact. It’s such a shame they turned a fun mechanic into something so restricting.
That nerf really hits hard. Ascension creates clones but slaps a damage ceiling on them, and they can’t spawn threadlings unless you have Balance of Power up. It’s crazy how the clone can barely survive a few seconds without it! The cooldown is brutal too, for something that’s supposed to enhance the gameplay, it’s a lot less fun now.
Just to clarify, Ascension shouldn’t damage the clone. You can keep creating clones without blowing them up, but you’ve gotta be mindful about Tangles, as those can get wiped out by the AoE effects. Balance definitely makes it way more effective, but that cooldown still stinks.
I get you, though. Trying to incorporate Sixth Coyote and Inmost Light is incredibly rough now without Balance of Power assisting!
You’re totally right about Balance of Power being a must now. It’s wild how it cuts your ability regen by half for nearly 20 seconds after dodging! And combine that with the nerf to Threaded Spectre itself, and it’s just frustrating. I get that they want balance, but when an exotic becomes almost unusable for one of its main functions, that’s not great. I thought Citan Ramparts was untouched for similar reasons, yet here we are with dodges taking over a minute to cool down!
I had no idea it had that big of a cooldown! I usually experiment with it alongside the Facet of Hope, which might help a bit, but I need to test that more.
Honestly, I wish there was a way to prevent clones from spawning threadlings altogether. It really messes up combi blow builds since the threadlings end up eliminating targets before you get a chance to punch them!
They should totally create an exotic for that! It could make the clone tankier and have it draw more aggro from enemies without the spawning.
Yep! This change came after Final Shape dropped; too many players were abusing it in Crucible, apparently. So now we’re all stuck with a one-size-fits-all nerf that ruined what was once a cool dynamic.
