I’m thinking about getting a Steam Deck, but I’m not sure how powerful it really is. I’ve looked up the specs, but they don’t mean much to me. I want to know if it can run games like Terraria, Skyrim, and Risk of Rain 2, especially with mods. Also, can I use it for browsing the internet like a regular desktop, or is it strictly a gaming device? Thanks!

I’ve got an older gaming laptop, and while it runs things a bit better than the Deck, the Steam Deck does a solid job! It won’t be like playing on a top-tier gaming rig. It’s definitely good for older games and some newer titles at decent settings. Remember, if you’re playing certain online games, check if they work with anti-cheat on the Deck, as some don’t!
If you’re curious, think of the Steam Deck as a handheld PS4. If a game runs on a PS4, it should do the trick on the Deck too. Those titles you mentioned will perform really well! Just keep in mind that while it can manage most games, you’ll need to adjust settings for newer AAA titles sometimes.
