Can the PS4 get a virus?

-

My friend told me that I should install an anti-virus on my PS4 to prevent it from getting any viruses. Apparently the Call of Duty hackers and other online players are able to infect your Playstation when you connect to a hacked online lobby. Is this true, can the PS4 get a virus? If so, how do you install an antivirus to prevent any viruses infecting the Playstation 4?

The PS4 does not allow any unsigned applications to run on the system, so even if you were somehow able to get a virus or something similar to the system, you won’t be able to execute it. It may be possible for online games to get hacked, but the data here should remain on the game servers and the issues lie here and not with the actual Playstation itself.

Unless a game developer has intentionally put some malicious code inside their game it is highly unlikely you will ever get a virus on your PS4
