I’ve got a PNY RTX 3050 6GB and I’m thinking about upgrading to a 27″ 180Hz 1440p monitor. Is my setup powerful enough to run it, or would it struggle? If it does struggle, how bad would the performance really be?

I wouldn’t recommend it for many recent games. Even with a more powerful card like the 4070, I’ve had trouble keeping FPS above 70 in games like AC: Shadows at high settings. The 3050 will definitely struggle at 1440p.
It really depends on what you’re gaming on. For something like Runescape, you’ll probably be fine, but heavy-duty games will likely tank your FPS at 1440p.
Good to know! Mostly I play FPS games, so I guess I should prepare for some compromises.
You’ll be able to run that monitor, but honestly, expect to play most modern games at 1080p for decent performance. The RTX 3050 isn’t going to give you smooth gameplay at 1440p, especially on newer titles.
Yeah, it’s okay for some older or less demanding games, but don’t expect high settings at 1440p.
Thanks for the heads up! I kind of figured it might struggle.
Exactly! You’re looking at a heavy performance hit with that card at higher resolutions.
