Hey everyone! I recently transitioned to a remote job and my company has set up a work profile on my personal laptop. They’ve loaded it up with a bunch of monitoring and tracking software. While I’m okay with being monitored during work hours, I’m really concerned about what happens when I switch back to my personal profile. The tracking apps, like ConnectWise and some endpoint security tools, are still running in the background. Can my employer still monitor my activities on my personal profile? I’d really like to keep my personal life private. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It’s wild to think companies are so cheap they can’t provide a work computer! You’re basically giving up your privacy for the job. Hope you get that work laptop soon, you’ll feel a lot better using a separate device!
Yes, unfortunately, they can still track your activities on the whole laptop, no matter what profile you’re using. Since you’ve allowed them to install that software, you’re basically giving them access to everything on the device. It’s generally a bad idea to mix personal and work devices like this. If you can, either get a separate cheap laptop just for work or make them provide the equipment with their software pre-installed. It’s the safest way to keep your personal stuff private!
Damn, alright man. They’ll be sending me a separate work laptop next month. How do I clean up my personal laptop at that time? Will deleting the work profile work?
