Hey folks, I’m curious if the PSVR2 can work as a regular monitor for non-VR games, or if it’s stuck just being a VR headset. Also, with the current state of VR gaming, do you think buying one in 2025 is a smart move? It seems like there isn’t much focus on VR from major titles lately. Is VR basically in a gaming limbo right now?

Absolutely! You can use the PSVR2 to display games just like a giant monitor, and the cool part is that it has a 120hz refresh rate. So if your TV can’t handle 120fps games, you’ll have a way to enjoy those higher frame rates in VR!
Nice! I’m sure it’ll be useful for both of you.
If you’re looking at VR right now, the PSVR feels pretty much like VR purgatory. You’re better off getting a Quest or building a solid PC setup that can handle VR games from Steam instead. That seems to have more offerings!
Yeah, I’m getting that vibe too. It’s like they’ve had two generations with barely any improvement. What would you recommend for a non-Meta option on PC?
For PC, I would look at the Valve Index or the HTC Vive. They both have great libraries and performance!
Honestly, my PSVR2 is just sitting in the corner gathering dust right now. Not the best experience for non-VR stuff, but it’s a solid tech if you want to actually use it for VR games.
Oh snap, I didn’t even think about this. I might start using it for that and let my wife use the monitor when we co-op.
