Hey everyone! I’m looking for some advice on my 5 Bay TeraMaster Drive Enclosure. It has served me well for my Xbox game library, presenting the 5 4TB drives in a RAID setup as a single 16TB drive. Now that I’ve made the leap from an Xbox One X to a Series X, I’m running into issues since some of my games need to be installed on the internal storage. Would upgrading to SSDs in my enclosure help with this? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Unfortunately, upgrading your TeraMaster enclosure with SSDs won’t solve the problem. The Seagate and Western Digital storage expansion cards are specifically designed to work with Xbox Series X|S. You can install games on your enclosure, but they’ll still need to run from the internal SSD or an official expansion card to play smoothly.
Yeah, it’s a bummer! Anything that connects via USB won’t cut it for the Series X|S because it’s way too slow for the game requirements. Those expansion cards are really the only viable options if you want to store and play Series X|S optimized games.
That really stinks! I’ve wondered too if it’s possible to adapt the expansion card interface to something more common like USB-C to get those speeds, but it seems unlikely. They’re proprietary after all, and making it work would probably be more trouble than it’s worth.
Exactly, trying to jerry-rig that setup isn’t going to work. The cards are designed specifically for the Xbox to handle those speeds.
