I’ve never played World of Warcraft before and I’m curious about whether it’s possible to experience the game starting from the very first story events from when it launched years ago, all the way to the present. I want to fully understand the storyline without jumping in mid-way. Is that feasible?

In theory, you might think you can do it, but in practice, you level up too quickly, often hitting max level before finishing the storyline. If you don’t mind going through the story at max level, you could lock your XP at certain levels to experience content as you go. Using Chromie-time is a good trick to jump between expansions and keep it more linear!
Honestly, you could start with WoW Classic and then progress through to the expansions. It might not feel totally chronological due to revamps like Cataclysm altering older zones, but you can tackle the adventures in order. It’s a lot to manage, though, and without a guide, it’s easy to get lost!
I think you’re right about needing a guide. Some storylines are missing, and quests change, so it can be tricky for new players.
The world has changed a lot since the game started, so you might miss some storylines entirely, especially the older ones. A lot of players recommend going through the older Warcraft RTS games or watching specific lore videos before diving into WoW to get that extra context. It saves time and helps you appreciate the in-game story more when you start playing.
That’s a great point! It’s definitely a lot of lore to digest, but starting with the classics is a fun idea.
You can definitely experience the main storylines, but just be prepared for it to feel a bit jumbled due to how the game has evolved over the years. Many story threads are tied to expansions, so while it’s possible to play through everything, you might not get the full impact without a lot of outside lore reference. Just remember that the gameplay has evolved too, making newer content quite different from old-school WoW.
Absolutely, the gameplay changes can make it challenging to experience the story as it was originally intended. I’d suggest pacing yourself and enjoying the journey!
It’s a bit complicated! The lore in WoW has a lot of time travel and overlapping stories, so you’ll be bouncing around different timelines. While you *can* try playing through all the expansions in order, it might feel disjointed unless you get some background on the major plot points. Watching lore videos online can help a lot to fill in gaps between expansions without the confusion.
Yeah, the lore can get all over the place, especially with events happening at different times! Those videos really help to make sense of it all.
Locking your XP sounds like a solid plan! It lets you go through the story without out-leveling the quests.
