I’m curious if I can create a world in the earliest version of Minecraft, play for a bit, and then update the game version gradually every few in-game days until I reach the latest version (1.21.4). Will my world include content from these updates, like caves and cliffs, or would there be a ton of glitches?

Yeah, it’s definitely possible! The thing is, you may run into some strange chunk border issues when updating between versions, especially with major updates like Caves and Cliffs. Just be mindful of that and maybe plan accordingly.
For sure! Lots of YouTubers have done this as a challenge. It’s kinda cool to see those old worlds evolve over the versions. Expect a bunch of glitches now and then though, especially if you’re jumping from a really old version to a new one.
You should be good to go as long as you update incrementally. Doing it step-by-step helps avoid issues. You might find some chunk errors with world generation updates, but that’s fairly normal. Many players have carried worlds through several updates over years.
