I’m finally getting ready to dive into Death Stranding, as I’ve always been intrigued by its concept. However, I’m a total scaredy cat when it comes to horror in games. The only jump scare I know about is the infamous one in the private room with the figure in the shower, which I plan to avoid by leaving right away.
Aside from that, are there any other jump scares or particularly scary moments I should watch out for? I can handle some atmospheric horror, where things feel suspenseful. But actual jump scares? No way! For instance, I attempted to play F.E.A.R. 1 and gave up after just three minutes when I saw blood leaking from a ceiling vent. If anyone could point out any jump scares in Death Stranding, I’d appreciate it. Plus, I checked out that shower scene on YouTube, and honestly, I rated it a 5/10 for scariness. So, maybe I can handle the game after all?

There are a few moments in the game that might catch you off guard, particularly in the private room. For instance, you interact with the BB in the pod and it might startle you a bit when it bangs against the glass. There’s also a scene where you’re looking into dark spaces, and something appears suddenly, like a whale out of the darkness. But honestly, if you’re avoiding jump scares, just make sure you know what’s coming, and you should be fine!
I can’t think of any huge jump scares besides the baby scene you mentioned. The ones that come to mind are more atmospheric than anything. There’s some weird stuff that happens around your character if you interact with certain things, especially in the private room, but if you know about them, you can brace yourself. Overall, it’s not as jumpy as you might be worried about.
Honestly, you’re good to go! Death Stranding has some horror elements, but it’s not terrifying like F.E.A.R. There are no big jump scares aside from the one you’re already aware of in the private room with the shower. That one is pretty well signposted, so you can prepare for it. In fact, a lot of the “scary” elements in Death Stranding come off more comedic than spooky. You might miss a couple of moments related to the BTs, but you’ll likely find it more thrilling than scary. Just put on your brave face and enjoy the experience!
Thanks for breaking that down! I feel more comfortable tackling the game now. Wish me luck!
