I have a Radeon 740M combined with a Ryzen 5 8500G and 16GB of RAM in my PC. I’m currently playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on medium settings at around 28-30 FPS. I’m interested in playing Elden Ring and Spider-Man Remastered at medium settings and I’m hoping to hit at least 40 FPS. Is that realistic with my setup? If so, could someone share tips on how to optimize the graphics settings for better performance? Also, I’m using a resolution of 1680x1050p.

I’ve got an 8600G in my home setup, and with precision boost overclocking, you can squeeze out some decent performance from these APUs. Maxing out on settings, you might get around 30 FPS if you use some AI upscaling techniques. Just keep an eye on settings and see what works best for your system.
Honestly, you might struggle to reach that 40 FPS mark with your current hardware. Upgrading to a dedicated GPU would definitely help you out. Elden Ring is fairly demanding, so a better graphics card is essential if you want a smooth experience.
What kind of GPU would you recommend for budget gaming? I need something that won’t break the bank.
Unfortunately, it looks like you’re going to need to upgrade to play those games smoothly. The performance you’re aiming for is a bit beyond what the Radeon 740M can deliver on its own.
Thanks for the tip! What’s PBO though? I don’t think I have that feature on my APU.
