Hey everyone! I’m looking to set up a personal Minecraft server on an ancient computer I found. It’s got an AMD Athlon II X2 250 processor. Is there any chance I can run the latest version with just a few plugins for about 5 players? Storage and RAM aren’t an issue for me; I’m mainly concerned about whether this processor can handle it.

Good luck with the latest version! I’d say it’s a long shot. That CPU is pretty outdated—you’re likely not going to get a decent experience, especially if you plan to run any plugins. If you’re set on using this machine, you might have to look at adjusting the server settings way down to try and make it work!
Honestly, running a Minecraft server on that CPU is going to be a challenge. It’s pretty old and below the official minimum requirements for hosting even a single player smoothly. You might experience a lot of lag, even with just a few players. It’s better to look for something more modern if you want a decent experience.
Thanks for the tips! If I find a better CPU, what would you recommend?
