Hey everyone, I have a laptop with an Intel Core i3 processor and integrated HD Graphics running SteamOS. I’m wondering if I can play Shadow of the Tomb Raider smoothly on this setup. Any advice on whether this game is doable or if I should lower my expectations?

Nope, Core i3 with just integrated Intel graphics isn’t enough for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. You’d typically need a dedicated AMD or NVIDIA GPU to get decent performance. Linux or SteamOS isn’t magic and won’t make heavy games run on weak hardware. If you want to game better, consider saving up for at least a budget desktop with a dedicated GPU—it’ll open way more gaming options for you.
Unfortunately, Shadow of the Tomb Raider pretty much requires a dedicated graphics card with at least 2GB of VRAM. The integrated Intel HD Graphics on a Core i3 just can’t handle it, and running SteamOS or Linux doesn’t really change the hardware demands of the game.
It really depends on the generation of your Core i3 and the specific Intel HD Graphics model. Newer integrated GPUs might be able to run it at very low settings, but older ones will struggle badly. If your laptop is a few years old, it’s probably not going to work well at all.
Got it, thanks for the info. Any idea what kind of games might run well on a low-end laptop like mine?
