I’m trying to find out if there are any external storage devices that let me play Xbox Series X or Series S optimized games directly from them. I’d like to avoid having to constantly move my games between drives. Are there specific storage options that support running these next-gen optimized games without issues?

The only reliable way to play optimized Xbox Series X/S games directly from external storage is using the official storage expansion cards made by Seagate or Western Digital. Regular USB drives just don’t offer the speed required to run those games properly since USB bandwidth is too low compared to the expansion cards.
