Hey everyone! I’m currently using Linux Mint and I’m interested in getting Minecraft, specifically to play the Bedrock version online with my friends who are on Xbox. I found a link to buy the game that includes both Bedrock and Java editions, but I came across a post that mentioned needing an Android license or something. Can someone clarify if purchasing from there would provide that license and allow me to play online? Thanks!

To play Bedrock on Linux, you’ll need to use a specific launcher designed for it. You have to buy the Bedrock version from Google Play, and then use the Minecraft Bedrock Launcher, which is a flatpak. It works pretty smoothly!
Just a heads up, Microsoft Store apps and games won’t run on Linux, so you’ll need to stick with the Bedrock Launcher and get your game through Google Play.
True! The Google Play version syncs well with players on Xbox, Switch, and PC when you use that Bedrock launcher.
Yeah, the launcher you’re looking for is called ‘mcpelauncher.’ It’s what you need to make it all work on Linux!
