Hey everyone! I’m new to Linux and considering making the switch, but I’m worried about some games I might miss out on. Specifically, I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to play Doom: The Dark Ages without relying on Microsoft’s Game Pass. Any suggestions or workarounds?

The only reliable way would be to stream Doom via Game Pass Ultimate. This could provide a workaround but might not be perfect depending on your internet connection.
If your Game Pass account is linked to your Battle.net account, you should be able to play Doom through the Battle.net client. That’s what I’m doing, and it works pretty well!
Unfortunately, Game Pass is a Microsoft service, which means it doesn’t officially support Linux. You’ll likely face problems trying to run it natively.
But Microsoft has Linux versions of several apps. Can’t they do the same for games?
I’ve heard Doom is going to be on Battle.net, so if you have that set up, you might be able to access it from Linux.
As others have mentioned, it’s pretty much a Windows exclusive right now. I decided to dual boot because there are several games that just won’t work on Linux, and I need my audio setup to function correctly.
You could possibly use XCloud streaming with Game Pass Ultimate if that’s available to you. Just make sure to read up on how to get it set up on Linux if you haven’t already.
Wait, is that really true? I need to check this!
