Hey everyone! I’m considering switching from Windows to a Linux operating system, but I’m a bit concerned about gaming compatibility. Specifically, I want to know if I can run Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) and Faceit on any Linux distribution. Are there any downsides to gaming on Linux compared to Windows? Also, I’m curious about how Nvidia’s GeForce graphics cards and GSync work on Linux. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, Faceit just doesn’t work on Linux. If you’re looking to play competitive shooters like CS2 or League of Legends, I usually recommend keeping a separate low-end Windows system dedicated just to gaming. It’s not ideal, but it’s often the best solution if you want to stay competitive for now. It doesn’t seem like that will change anytime soon, either.

You can check out ProtonDB.com for info on how most games run on Linux. Most distros are capable, and Gsync works pretty well too, as long as you stick to using NVIDIA cards. Just be careful if you’re using Wayland as your desktop environment because it can lead to some issues.
