I have a GPU that needs three 8-pin power connectors, but I only have two 8-pin strimmer cables ready to go. I’m curious if it’s okay to combine two 8-pin connectors from my PSU into one and then split them again close to the GPU. My idea is to have three 8-pin connectors coming from the PSU, merge two into one, and then use a splitter to get back to three connectors for the GPU. Is this safe or viable?

Using two 8-pin connectors for a GPU designed for three sounds risky. The GPU needs adequate power, and merging connectors could lead to power issues, overheating, or failure. It’s best to provide the GPU with the correct number of dedicated connectors for safe operation. If you can, grab an extra cable to match the GPU’s requirements.
