I’m curious about the upcoming Xbox Ally OS. When it releases, is it possible to install it on my Steam Deck? If I can, would that let me download and play Xbox games natively?

If we’re being honest, it’s not clear why you’d want to switch to that OS. Steam OS is built specifically for gaming. Windows can be a hassle for gaming experiences. Just stick with what works!
Honestly, the Xbox Ally OS is likely just a tweaked version of Windows 11, and I doubt it will bring better performance. If you’re considering it, remember you can already run Windows 11 on the Deck just fine. I mean, can we really trust Microsoft to make this smooth?
Let’s be real here, the Xbox Ally OS is just dressed-up Windows 11. Plus, as of now, we have no info on whether it’ll even be available for other devices like the Steam Deck. As for downloading and running Xbox games natively? Don’t hold your breath; it’s still Windows underneath.
You can already install Windows on the Steam Deck, so that part is a go! People have been doing it for ages. So when the Xbox Ally OS drops, it shouldn’t be too tough to get it on there. But keep in mind, it sounds like it’ll just be a rebranded version of Windows 11.
True, I think the original poster is talking about this Xbox-manufactured version. It’s supposed to be more gaming-centric, so if it works well, it might be worth a shot.
