Hey everyone, I have a PS5 with a disc drive and I’m trying to figure out how I can set it up to download a few games overnight. If I put in Game 1 and start downloading it, can I then eject it and put in Game 2 to start its download? Will the console be able to handle both downloads this way, or do I need to keep the disc in for each game while it’s downloading? I wish I could monitor it, but work and sleep get in the way.

It’s a bit complicated. Some games require the disc to copy data and won’t download without it, while others are more lenient. But for sure, you need the disc in to actually play the game later on.
Based on my experience, yeah, once I took the disc out, the download paused. So, unfortunately, it has to stay in the console if you want to keep it downloading and be able to play it after.
Just so you know, I had a similar experience where I could start downloading from my Library without the disc present, but I could only play the games once the disc was in. Give that a shot if you want to try downloading without swapping discs all night!
You definitely need the disc to be in the console during the download. It acts like your license to play the game, so if you take it out, the download will pause until you put it back. It would be awesome if they had a multi-disc changer for situations like this!
