I’m looking to pair a third-party headset (not from Sony) with my PS5 Digital Edition. I’ve found mixed information online about whether this is possible, especially regarding Bluetooth connections. Can someone clarify if any headset can connect to the PS5?

If your headset has a USB dongle, then you can use it with the PS5. Otherwise, it looks like your best option is to plug in via an aux cable to your controller. That’s how I connect my Bose headphones, and it works perfectly for both audio and mic!
You can’t connect them via Bluetooth directly without a dongle, which is pretty frustrating. I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones and they won’t pair with the PS5. If you want wireless, a Bluetooth dongle might work, but I just prefer using the aux cable with my controller—it’s much simpler!
Yeah, I hear you! I have the XM5s and really wanted to use them for gaming too. It seems ridiculous that you can’t use Sony’s own headphones easily.
I actually managed to pair my WH-1000XM4 with a Bluetooth dongle on the PS5, and it worked fine! Just a bit of a hassle to get it set up.
No Bluetooth options for third-party headsets, unfortunately. You can connect via a USB dongle or with a TRRS headset jack, but wired USB works too! Just keep that in mind when shopping for headsets.

Just to clarify, when using aux, is the microphone from your controller being used instead of the headset’s mic?
