I’ve got this itch to dive back into Destiny 2, even though the game isn’t quite what it used to be. I’m curious if it’s possible to play on a Steam Deck. I heard there might be issues with the anti-cheat system. Can Proton make it work? Has anyone here tried playing it on their Steam Deck successfully?

If you’re up for some setup, people have been dual-booting Windows 10 on the Steam Deck to get Destiny 2 running. It’s a bit of extra work, but if you’re desperate to play on the go, it might be worth the effort.
Unfortunately, Destiny 2 doesn’t work on the Steam Deck due to its anti-cheat software. You’re only going to get it running if you install Windows on your Deck or choose to stream it from another device. I’ve tried it out by setting up Windows, and it runs pretty decently from there.
That’s the only way, right? Just needed that confirmation, thanks!
Steam officially marks Destiny 2 as unsupported on the Steam Deck. On ProtonDB, it’s tagged as ‘borked,’ meaning it won’t work at all using standard Linux setups. Sorry to say, but unless something changes, it’s not playable without workarounds like installing Windows.
While it’s true you can’t run it natively, I found streaming it from a PC or using a cloud service like GeForce Now to be a solid alternative. It might not be the best for intensive stuff like raids or PvP, but for casual play, it’s pretty decent. You could also stream from an Xbox if you’ve got one handy.
Streaming might be the way to go for me. Got an Xbox already, so I might try that route. Thanks for the tip!
Glad to know there’s at least a workaround, even though it’s a bit of a hassle!
