I accidentally bent a capacitor on my motherboard without even seeing it clearly. After bending it, my computer won’t start up, but the motherboard still seems to be functioning otherwise. I’m curious about what consequences bending a motherboard capacitor might have and whether this could cause permanent damage or if it might still work fine.

If it’s a through-hole capacitor, a slight bend usually won’t cause problems since the leads are pretty sturdy. From what you describe, it sounds like the capacitor might be damaged enough to prevent startup even if the board powers on otherwise.
