I’m curious about the fate of psykers who are brought to Holy Terra to power the Emperor. Has there ever been a case where a psyker survives the process of being absorbed by the Golden Throne, or is it a guaranteed death sentence?

It’s true, the psyker gets sealed inside a pod connected to the Throne, and their essence is drained over time. Technically, if the pod were unplugged before they’re completely drained, they might survive, but they’d be in horrendous shape. Probably messed up mentally and spiritually, leaving them vulnerable to possession or becoming a shell of their former selves.
There’s really no chance. All psykers who get used to power the Emperor end up dead because he takes their souls. Even the strongest psyker ever, Malcador the Sigillite, couldn’t keep it up for long and ended up turning to ash. It’s a death sentence every time.
Nope, once a psyker is hooked up to the Golden Throne to feed the Emperor, they’re pretty much toast. They’re completely incinerated, body and soul. The process is brutal and irreversible, so surviving it is almost impossible.
Exactly! Anyone coming out of that would be pretty weak. Plus, being a psyker already makes them more susceptible to daemonic influences. Not a good situation to be in.
